Online Therapy for Washington County, Utah

Roots Counseling & Wellness offers online therapy to people throughout Washington County, Utah, including St. George, Hurricane, Ivins and the smaller towns along SR-9 and SR-18. Sessions happen over secure, HIPAA-compliant video with licensed Utah clinicians. If you would rather sit in the same room, our Cedar City office is about an hour north on I-15.

How telehealth works for Washington County clients

Telehealth at Roots is the same counseling you would receive in our office, just delivered by video. Sessions are the same length as in-person visits, typically 50 minutes. If your internet connection drops partway through, your clinician can switch to a phone call so the conversation can continue.

The one rule to know: you need to be physically in Utah at the time of each session. That is a state licensing requirement, so a session from home in Santa Clara works, and a session from a hotel out of state does not.

Many people find telehealth fits easily into a workday. Our article on online therapy vs. in-person compares the two formats.

We recently added a page just for partners in and around St. George. Online couples counseling in St. George explains how sessions work when you join from one screen or two, what the first visit is like, and how our Gottman-informed and EFT-informed approaches fit in.

What you can work on by telehealth

Most of our counseling works well over video, including individual, family and teen therapy for ages 10 and up, plus support for anxiety, grief and life transitions. Roots is a DBT center, and we also offer EMDR and IFS. Alternative wellness therapies are in person only.

Coming in person to Cedar City

Some people mix telehealth with an occasional office visit, and others want every session in person. Our only office is at 732 N Main Street in Cedar City, with free on-site parking, and it is about an hour north of the St. George area on I-15.
