Anger Management Therapy in Utah
Anger is a normal, healthy emotion, but when it feels out of control or starts to hurt your relationships, work, or peace of mind, therapy can help. Anger management therapy is not about suppressing what you feel. It is about understanding it and learning to respond in ways you feel good about. Roots Counseling offers this support in person in Cedar City and by secure telehealth across Utah.
When anger is worth addressing
When anger feels bigger than the situation, when it comes out in ways you later regret, when people around you seem to walk on eggshells, or when it is affecting your relationships, job, or health.
What is often underneath anger
Anger is frequently a surface emotion sitting on top of something else, such as stress, hurt, fear, grief, or feeling unheard. Therapy helps you get curious about what is really going on.
How therapy helps
Your clinician helps you notice your early warning signs, understand your triggers, and build practical tools to pause and respond rather than react. That can include calming skills, communication strategies, and working through the deeper feelings driving the anger. DBT is one of the approaches we use, and it works especially well for managing intense emotions and anger.
Court-ordered anger management
If you have a court requirement, we can help. Utah does not require a specific certified anger management program, and our anger management course meets all the requirements for a certificate of completion. We offer both individual and group options and provide the documentation the court needs. Reach out with your paperwork and we will make sure your requirements are met.
In person or by telehealth
Sessions can happen at our Cedar City office or by secure video anywhere in Utah.
