Darian Hall, (IMFT) MFT Intern
Marriage and Family Therapy Intern
About Darian Hall
Darian Hall is a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern completing his Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Utah Tech University, with an expected graduation in May 2026. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Southern Utah University (SUU).
Darian specializes in systemic therapy, working with couples, families, individuals, and the broader relational systems that shape people's lives. He conceptualizes client concerns through a systemic lens, thoughtfully considering family of origin, culture, religion/spirituality, and larger systems of support and oppression.
Drawing from diverse life experiences growing up and living in San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area, Oklahoma, Las Vegas, and rural Utah, Darian brings cultural humility and a deep appreciation for a wide range of racial, cultural, and belief systems into the therapy room. His approach is culturally sensitive and postmodern, meaning he collaborates with clients to honor their values and beliefs while co-creating meaningful therapy goals.
Darian primarily works from systemic models and is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. With individuals he integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills. His style is highly experiential—emphasizing in-session doing, emotional experiencing, and accessing clients' inner resources to create lasting change.
He is committed to evidence-based practices and tailors interventions to each client's unique needs and context. Darian has three years of clinical experience at Roots Counseling (beginning during his undergraduate studies at SUU), as well as prior work as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) supporting children with ADHD, ODD, and neurodevelopmental disorders, and experience with neurodivergent individuals in a residential treatment setting.
Central to his work is de-stigmatization—helping clients release shame by understanding symptoms as complex outcomes of developmental history, systemic factors, genetics, attachment wounds, and life cycles rather than personal defects. He views many coping patterns as once-helpful safety mechanisms that may no longer serve in current relationships or life stages.
Darian prioritizes creating a space of emotional and physical safety, deep understanding, and gentle yet honest support through the sometimes uncomfortable process of change. He believes the most powerful mechanisms of transformation include insight, acceptance, emotional expression and regulation, safety, and living in greater congruence with oneself, others, and reality.
Outside the therapy room, Darian enjoys scientific research, psychology, basketball, music, movies, and geeking out over a wide range of interests. Aka he's a nerd.
