Online Therapy in Bountiful, UT

Roots Counseling & Wellness offers online therapy in Bountiful through secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth video. You can talk with a licensed Utah clinician from a quiet room at home, with no drive and no waiting room. The only requirement is that you are physically in Utah when your session begins.

Why Bountiful residents choose telehealth

Bountiful sits at the south end of Davis County, close enough to Salt Lake City that many residents work, shop and run errands there. When a day already includes a trip down I-15 or Legacy Parkway, squeezing in one more appointment can feel like too much. Telehealth keeps therapy close to home, even when the rest of your schedule is not.

Some people in the established neighborhoods on the bench above I-15 also value a little discretion. Meeting by video means you can step into a session from your own home and step right back into your evening afterward.

What a telehealth session looks like

After you reach out, our front desk sends intake paperwork by secure email. It takes up to 30 minutes and covers your contact information, insurance, a brief background and consent. On the day of your appointment, you join a secure video session with your clinician for a session that typically runs 50 minutes, the same as in person. If the picture freezes or the call drops, your clinician can switch to phone so your time is not lost.

Counseling services for Bountiful clients

Bountiful clients work with Roots on many kinds of concerns. Some begin with individual counseling for depression, grief or a major life transition such as a move, retirement or an empty nest. Others are drawn to IFS therapy, which many people find a gentle way to understand competing thoughts and feelings, or to DBT, which Roots offers as a DBT center. Partners can meet together through couples counseling.

Before your first session

  • ✓
You are physically in Utah for the whole session, since our clinicians are licensed in Utah.
  • ✓
You have a phone, tablet or computer with a camera, microphone and steady internet.
  • ✓
You have a private spot where you can talk freely without being overheard.
  • ✓
Your intake forms are finished ahead of time, or you set aside a few minutes before the session to complete them.

Couples counseling without the commute

Getting two schedules to line up is often the hardest part of couples work. With telehealth, partners can join from the same room after the kids are in bed or before work. Our couples clinicians draw on approaches like the Gottman Method and EFT. If you are unsure whether now is the right time, our articles on signs it may be time for couples counseling and what to do when a partner is hesitant are good places to start.
