What to expect when looking for a therapist

Southwest Utah, including Iron County, is a federally designated mental health professional shortage area (HRSA, designation last updated September 2025), so some providers have waiting lists. It can help to ask about several practices at once, ask whether telehealth would shorten the wait, and check your insurance plan's directory. A quick phone call is often the fastest way to learn about current openings.
